Nothin' New

The job search has been slow, as previously mentioned.  However, I was all over ChCh today interviewing.  I interviewed with another nanny agency today, to add to my list of prospects, and it went exceptionally well again.  I am just being cautious in deciding which job to take.  If I wanted, I could jump right in to working...but I'm holding out for the best family and best offer for my time here.  The interview was at a coffee shop in a place called Northwoods Supa Centa.  When I received the e-mail telling me it was there, I was convinced there was a typo.  Supa Centa?  Is that some sort of slang?  It's not, it's actually called that, and I feel a bit foolish for calling it such (can't help but giggle).  After the interview, I had a short break before the next one, so I treated myself to a cafe delight:  caramel chai tea latte and a banana-chocolate chip muffin!  It was warm and delicious, and one of the best chai teas I have ever had.  There are a ton of cafes here, and it is hard to find a sit-down restaurant at lunctime.  But this cafe was exceptional, and a perfect reward following a good interview.

The next interview was at a women's fitness center at Northlands Mall.  At first, I thought that the interviews were at the same place, but indeed, there is a Northwood and a Northlands, which makes things confusing for a ChCh newbie.  Although our hostel is centrally located, it was a lengthy bus ride back and forth to my interviews.  The women at the gym were wonderfully kind, and I have a great lead on a yoga class.  I have yet to visit with another gym in the chain, and after Thursday I should know for sure.  This interview was quite laid back and relaxed and the interviewer called me 'sweet' and 'cool' (which is entirely true, but unexpected to be heard in an interview!).  She introduced me to the other trainers and teachers at the gym, one of whom was a fellow American, from Oregon, who instantly befriended me and exchanged her numbers and information.  I have a really good feeling from the interviews today, despite tired feet from walking in heels all day!

But I am still waiting.  Hopefully my goals will be attained shortly and I will be employed in NZ.  With the way that this week has been panning out for me, it looks closer and closer.  I am sure someday I will miss the lazy days spent job-searching, but I have never really been unemployed before, and I am certainly looking forward to getting back into the swing of things working!  I will for sure keep you posted!
